Dogwood Anthracnose is caused by a fungus and is very common in Western Washington. The disease generally appears from late May to early July, although damage can be noticed at anytime during the growing season. Large, brown blotches develop on the leaves. The spots are concentrated on the veins and in the most severe cases can stretch the full length of the leaf. In the most advanced stages of the disease leaves will drop and could completely defoliate. |
